The Importance of Disillusionment

Every so often something occurs to me that requires a bit of thought. On good days, thought is followed by an Aha! moment and I get whatever it is that the Universe was trying to tell me.
On other days I simply ignore it and hope something comes along later.

Yesterday I’d just clicked over to this site when something struck me. I scratched out a note for myself: The importance of dis-illusionment.
Either I was telling me this or a guide whispered it.
Now, I had to give this some thought. No one wants to be disillusioned. It brings up all manner of negativity and makes a person feel lousy. However, it can be important for getting on with life.
I realized though that this had nothing to do with what the message meant.
It’s a call to let go of our illusions and step into a new phase of reality.
The latest messages in the spiritual vein talk about stronger connections between humanity and the spirit side with an attendant increase in the vibratory frequency of many of us. Those who get move on up to a faster, higher vibe experience spirituality in a different, direct and personal way. That is, no more need for divination tools like Ouija boards and Tarot cards. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great. But they suggest and therefore perpetuate distance even as they are used as a bridge.
Of course dis-illusionment is important. We need to get past the current constructs of our daily lives and get on with seeing things how they really are.
The world we knew is changing and doing it awfully darned fast. The economy is on its way to Hell and it won’t stop until it gets there. A litre of gas is 69.9 cents in my town right now, almost half of what it was six months ago.
The collapse was rapid and necessary. We are restructuring. We are letting go of some of the illusory constructs of the world and we’re going to get shiny new ones to replace it.
Systems change all the time. Empires collapse. Others rise to take their places. Objects of worship change. We change.
We’re doing it now and in order to get through it and come out the other side better, stronger and happier we have to get dis-illusioned.

Great post, cousin. And you are so right. We have been living in an illusory state for quite some time. This economic crash was inevitable, and, as the Rancher puts it so charmingly, it's time to have the scum wiped off our eyes!

Okay, maybe your 'disillusionment' is a better way to put it.....

Thanks, df Bag Lady.
'Scum wiped off our eyes' is a good visual.

I like this way of thinking about things. I am somebody who fears change, but I am slowly learning that change is just opportunity in disguise. Although philosophically I believe that there can be no true disillusionment because nothing is real or illusion, it's all a matter of perspective and viewpoint. But we could debate that point all day!!

Thanks, Tokaiangel. That's a tough lesson, but it's a good one. Your take on it is interesting. It could be debated for quite some time.

As in the Matrix, Did you take the Blue pill or the Red one?

Very thought provoking post, especially to a US citizen like myself. You are so correct - things MUST change and we must accept that. Yes, things will be tough but we have been through tough times before!

Tom, I don't remember, but knowing me I took 'em both.

Missicat, thank. Change is tough, but I've come to realize the tougher it is, the more important it is, and the more satisfying it is when it's over.

We are seeing quite a few empty apartments in our complex... the rent is going to be going down if the owner wants it full. That is a good change for renters.

I just hope it doesn't take too long to come out the other side. Lovely photo.

I know that where I live so many lost the illusion during the dotcom bubble burst---what shocked me is how so many regrew the scum over their eyes :)

Well said, Leah. You have a wonderful thought process.

Lovely shot too.

Leah J. Utas said...

Reb, lowered rent is good. It was too high, same as housing prices. Now that we've got a housing correction we need a rental correction, too.

MizFit, the eye covering scum is awfully comforting.

Thank you so much, Hilary.

Your post is right down my alley, and now I know why I was being redirected to return here time after time. The link to the spiritlibrary has been noted and favourited away.

A factor in disillusionment can be where a person moves from one reality to another: you know this has occurred because you put your cutlery or dishes in certain cupboards, and now you can't find them where they're supposed to be.

Part of the global economic crisis is a psychological game the governments are playing with the citizens. If the citizen hears "economic times will get worse" then they will believe those words and the crisis will be on their doorsteps tomorrow. Hundreds of thousands of people will be laid off with no hope of finding another job. The money kept to be doled out in welfare payments will dwindle, and what then? The governments have been leading us all down the garden path. A few people have known this, spoken up and not been believed. Now we are at the beginning of the real crunch, just before the foundation remaining collapses. When countries go bankrupt someone else may come in and take over. What is Canada and the U.S. going to do if China, or another powerful country decides to move in and take over? A country in a serious economic crisis is vulnerable, ripe for the picking from outsiders. It is just a larger scale than mortgage foreclosures.

With the ability to shift realities and change one's consciousness level all this can be avoided. This is where divine guidance comes in. I have experienced sporadic episodes of divine guidance which include prophetic warnings. It comes down to choice: which choice are you going to make, and what are the consequences?

Another part of the illusory state is the apparent human lust for material goods. If a human has a divine connection there is no desire to buy anything unless it is a necessary item like food or clothing.

Awesome post. I think there is a lot more disillusionment to come... but I think we'll all come out of it with much more sensible priorities.

Well argued, Barbara. I agree with your statements, especially about a country being ripe for the picking. If we follow the old ways of materialism, then that's what will happen.
If we choose the new way and acknowledge and express our spiritual sides and divine connection, then we leave all that behind.
I hope you find what you need at SpiritLibrary. I certainly have.

Thanks, Crabby. Most of us need to learn the hard way.
