Photo-Finish Friday -- Cuba from a Mogote

Mogotes can be found near Vinales, Cuba. We climbed partway up one, maybe 50m, and then went though a cave complete with bats and out the other side.

I took this while taking a quick rest during the nearly straight up climb.
Among the crops grown around there are tobacco and sweet potatoes.

This is such an unusual flora and fauna from the northern hemisphere. Good for you for enduring the climb.

David, thanks so much. The rich, red soil really sets it off.

Tabor, there's some interesting stuff around us. The climb took a lot out of me, but I was happy I did it.

What a combination of color!
Looks almost unreal...the mountains with patchwork fields.

Lovely composition. I think the red fields set it off beautifully. Thank you for taking the climb and the link explaining what a Mogote is.

You're welcome.

Caves, with bats no less! And such a view! I have to go, no doubts now.

The bats were quite a treat, Messymimi. I couldn't get a decent pic of them, but I had a good look.

I haven't been everywhere yet, but it's on my list.
