Gratitude Monday - Change Gives Time To Reflect

A time of deep reflection

I prefer standard time. I always have. To me the change to daylight is absurd. It makes little difference in many parts of Canada in the meat of summer as the days here are long. In the early spring and later fall it is plain stupid. Anything we may save on one end of the day is spent on the other end.
But that's all behind us now.
I'm happy to get the hour back. I can use it.
It's darker sooner. That's better for writing and better for thinking.
Soon it'll be darker in the mornings, too.
Winter will be along shortly and that's even better.
Cold dark days are the best for thinking and writing.
And baking.
And cooking slow roasts and stews that warm the house and fill it with wonderful toothsome fragrances that fill the body and fill the soul and are good for writing, too.
I'm grateful the fundamental absurdity of daylight time is behind me so I can enjoy the day for what it is, when it is.

Okay...I see the positives;))
I DO like cozy dark evenings and mornings curled up with winter fare and a fire....So yes. You could sway me your way....a bit:)

I really like your new header. That is a wonderful capture!!! (Did you take the picture?)

Hope your new week is a wonderful one....extra hour and all!

Bossy Betty, so glad you're in my corner.

Dawn, good to know you've seen the light. Or lack thereof.
Thanks. Glad you like the header pic. Yes, I took it. We've had a nesting pair of house wrens return here for years and we've got a bird box on the back deck for them. Sometimes it's their main nest and other times it's a decoy. The wren in the pic is the female.

I'm a summer person and have to admit that I like the long, drawn-out sunsets leaving a touch of colour in the sky at ten. Each season and hour does bring something wonderful though - no matter what the clock says. I love your new header.

Each season has its own wonders, Hilary. I love the long sunsets, too. But I long for winter's introspection.
Thanks re: the header.

Lovely photo. They are eventually going to make daylight savings year round, which would be silly. I don't like the short days of winter though. I am grateful for the stove that lets me make the warm stews and baked goods :)

I love the new header photo too!

Reb, DST is stupid, and making it year-round is even stupider. OTOH, we'd get used to it and stop thinking about it so maybe it doesn't matter.

Thanks re: photo and header.

Love the photo, Leah! I'm really not looking forward to the long cold days, but, we don't have much choice. I can taste the fragrant, hot stew. Yum!

I agree that DST is absurd.

I also look forward to being able to cook without melting over the stove, although other aspects of winter don't always appeal to me.

Hear, hear! Daylight savings time is, as someone put it so well, like cutting the top off the blanket and sewing it onto the bottom - the blanket is still the same length!

I love the new header, and your photo in your post, too!

Thanks, Redbush. I love them because I can stay inside. If I had to be outside working in the winter my feelings might be different.

Messymimi, I like to cook things that take a long time. Winter's best for that.

dfBag Lady, yup. The blanket thing is right. Glad you like the pics.

I'm a morning person so I kind of like having a little more light but truth be told, in the end it really doesn't make a significant difference. And it's kind of a pain in the neck having to remember to fall back and spring forward. Sheesh!

Cheryl, I am a morning person, too. That's part of the reason I p[refer standard time.
