Two Sentence Tuesday -- Peppering My Work

Reading? Yes.
Writing.  Yes.
Well, I've gotten some done in the New Year. I'd like to say I devoted the off time to thinking about my assorted WIPs, but I have no intention of starting the new year off with a lie.
In fact, I'd be hard-pressed to say I'd done any grand thinking. Most of my time my mind has been occupied with finding new and exciting things to do with leftovers.

Like this:
Shrimp, 'shroom,  pineapple, pepper.

and this:
Ham, pineapple, pepper
We were blessed by a huge can of roasted red peppers. We opened it well over a week ago and I've put my creative mind to finding ways to use them up, and to sorting out a good pizza crust recipe. The writing is a pale second to this, but I'm okay with that for now.

Currently I'm reading Focusing by Eugene T. Gendlin, PH.D. (Bantam New Age, Revised Edition, 1982).
Here's a bit:
"What is the quality of this unclear felt sense? Let a word, a phrase, or an image come up from the felt sense itself."
#
  Here's something from Saintree:
"A few beads of moisture decorated Jemima's upper lip. Eury stared, desperate to reach over and lick them away."

Thank you. For more or to get in on the fun please see the Women of Mystery.

I'll take a slice of Ham, pineapple, pepper, if you please.

Ham, pineapple, pepper sounds amazing. I have to try that.

Good luck with the new year's reading and writing.

Those look amazing! I fully understand your wanting to focus on using up those peppers!

Why certainly, David.

Laurita, it's pretty good.

Bag Lady, they were good. I still have three huge peppers left.

Sorry....weakness. I'd have to say my mind would be working on leftover ideas as well....if I could come up with ideas as yours!
Recipe book writing next, maybe?

Leah J. Utas said...

Dawn, thanks for the idea. I don't use recipes as such. They're stepping off points at best. If I wrote a recipe book I'd have to start measuring.

I am all about a good pizza!! Yum!

Eury's a wicked boy, and sometimes, pizza has to take precedence!

Sometimes good food has to come before good writing, as it inspires the writing.

An image from an unclear feeling. Have to think about that one for a while.

Good writing, and good luck with getting the WIP's done.

Betty, it was okay.

So true, Clare, and ...umm... Eury's a girl.

Messymimi, yes it surely does.
Thanks.

Mmm, pizza... must find yeast & sugar free recipe. Good lines.

Leah J. Utas said...

Reb, there are quick dough recipes that don't use yeast. Dunno about sugar, but you can always leave it out.

I have made what I call "pseudopizza" using biscuit dough. It's not quite the same, but (in addition to avoiding yeast when I was allergic to it) it makes homemade pizza an impulsive thing.

And why have I never thought of putting shrimp on pizza? It is a good thing that I just finished supper. And that there are no shrimp in the house.

Mary Anne in Kentucky, I love shrimpizza. I recommend something sweet with them like pineapple and/or caramelized onion.

How did you manage to make me so hungry when I just ate a huge bowl of spaghetti?

Leah J. Utas said...

Tattytiara, I take that as a huge compliment.

I write for a living, so your words resonate with me. Sometimes, we need to put the pen down so we can do something else for a while. In this case, cooking is a lovely alternative form of self-expression.

And we can't eat paper out of the printer, anyway.

Leah, I commented earlier, but, I guess I forgot to publish. Ham and pineapple and peppers were on the pizza I made last night. You made me get a craving. I had a whole load of peppers, so, I thought I should use up a few as well. Yours looks scrumptious!

Leah J. Utas said...

Carmi, you are absolutely right. Something different helps us think. I like to work with my hands when I need to not think about the WIP. Cooking is creative and absorbs me.

Redbush, I bet yours it was really good, too.
