Photo-Finish Friday --Bus to the Edge of the World

The Pyramids at Giza
The haze over Cairo from pollution and the burning of the sugar cane fields makes it look like the pyramids are built on the edge of the world.

Beautiful! I wonder how long it will be before the city surrounds them completely though.

That's a stunner, Leah. Has a ghostly feel about it!

Wonderful! A magnificent view I may never see....but is on my Bucket List anyhow.
Really think the picture should be in a Travel Magazine somewhere.

Have a wonderful weekend Leah!

Thanks, Reb. I hope it never happens.

David, thanks. I'm glad the eeriness came through in the pic.

Dawn, how every kind of you to say.
Have a great weekend yourself.

That is an excellent picture, cousin! And it's eerie how the world seems to end right there!

Thanks, Bag Lady. It was so weird to be there and see it in person.
Enough to make a person believe the world is flat.

I loved visiting Egypt and your photo really captures the austere history of the place. They still sit outside the city and I hope that always is the way they keep it.

Thanks, Tabor. Me,too.

Magnificent. You were probably among the last to see it when they closed off access when the uprising started, eh?

Leah J. Utas said...

Chris, yup. We were there in the early morning of Jan. 29. The army closed access at 4 p.m. that day. We were lucky.

What a beautiful image, Leah. If it wasn't for the bus, I would think I've traveled back in time.

They sure represent the edge of the world to me.

Thank you, Hilary. I agree about the time-tripping.

Aye, Messymimi.

I agree with Hilary...looks like a trip back in time. Or it could also be another planet!! What a great trip that was.

Beautiful image. So evocative - but that smog. The camels will all get asthma!

Cheryl, it was otherworldly.

Dawn, thanks.
