Two Sentence Tuesday -- Thin Offerings

Our bedtime story is Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Jules Verne (Puffin Classics, reissued 2008).
We're quite enjoying it.
It's just the right weight for a proper bedtime story.
Two sentences:
"The town stretches along some low, marshy ground between two hills. A huge bed of lava lies on one side of it and slopes gently towards the sea."
#
I've managed a bit of writing this week. Harvest is barely plodding along, but at least there's something happening.
Two from Harvest:
" 'There's no use.You can't run away from you and the more you deny me the stronger I'll get.' "

I love Verne and have two of his classics ready to go. But right now I'm reading Haggard's KING SOLOMON'S MINES and enjoying it quite a bit. Nothing beats these old 19th century adventures.

David, so far we love the Verne book. Can't see that changing.

Have been reading KING SOLOMON'S MINES, too. One chapter a day is a slow and painstaking way to read an old classic. Yet because they were serialized, that is the way many of the writers then were read by their fans. Probably should turn off the lights and read by gas lamp to get the full effect.

I don't think I have ever read that book. Perhaps I should put it on my book list for summer.

I haven't read that one.... might have to pick it up for a change from my customary mysteries.

Your lines, as usual, are intriguing!

I haven't read that and I recently discovered that if I have seen a movie or TV version of a book (Pride and Prejudice) I just can't get into the novel... or maybe it is just that one, because the dialogue is pretty much exactly as I remember it, or I have seen it too many times. You lines have me hooked.

We read this aloud when the kids were younger, and enjoyed it thoroughly.

How many people take their whole lives to figure out that you can't run away from you?

Hmm, KING SOLOMON'S MINES. Must give that one a try.

Bossy Betty, I saw the old movie of it with James Mason. Always meant to read it. When I found it in the Children's classics section of Chapters Indigo I took it as a sign.

Bag Lady, it is interesting. Thanks.

Reb, I have similar trouble when I see the movie first as I see the actors as the characters instead of making my own visuals. Thanks.

Love Verne. My son just finished that one...sadly, I haven't started.
Your 2 sentences are well put together...and makes me think you may be talking about my housework;);)

LOL, Dawn.
