Gratitude Monday --A House Finch in the Sun

We've been feeding the birds again this summer. It's good to have them in the yard. It makes the place more lively and interesting.
Among our guests we have house finches like this fellow.
I love their splashes of colour, both alone and how it complements their cousins the goldfinches at the feeder.
This fellow frequents the feeder, the fences, and some of the trees around our house.
I am grateful for his visits in general, and I am very happy for the 20 or so mintues he spent sunning himself in the crabapple tree one evening as it gave me time to take plenty of photos.
These two are my favourites

Great shots! If I were a bird, I'd totally want to hang out at your house too. So peaceful, it seems. Actually, I wouldn't need to be a bird. If you weren't so darn far away I'd pop by this afternoon!

Crabby, thanks for your kind words. I'd love to have you here.

Worth watching for 20 minutes, i'm sure. Beautiful.

Good photos, cousin.
We, too, have finches around here, but I think (I'm not positive, though) that they are purple finches. They seem to have quite a lot more colour on them than your house finch. Regardless of what kind they are, they are fun to watch.

Yes, Messymimi.

Thanks, Bag Lady. They probably are purple finches. I keep hoping we'll get some here.

Colorful little visitor! I can't feed the birds because of attracting bear, so I enjoy others' pictures.

To the Bag Lady, you are probably right. the House Finches may be beautiful but they are an invasive species. I haven't seen a Purple Finch for years.
Awesome photos of the House Finches. I haven't got any Gold Finches.

He sure was, Barb.

Thanks, Red.

Reb, too bad, but you do have houses, don't you?

They're lovely little critters. Frank spreads seeds every afternoon/evening at his place. It draws so many birds and as a bonus, adorable, little chipmunks. They're such a treat. Thanks for sharing your house finches, Leah.

You're welcome, Hilary.
We have a squirrel who cleans up the spilled sunflowers.
