PentGuatemala 102
Fixer-upper?

We saw this ship on a lake in Guatemala.
I am sure it served well in its day.

Why do I love the look of things that have worn out? Because I certainly don't want those that are still functional to wear all the way out (especially if they're things I'm using!) But the look of things that have outlasted usefulness always seems beautiful to me.

They have their own charm, Mary Anne. Perhaps you see them as they were?

We had dinner last night at a seafood restaurant and they had a mural on the wall of a little bay against a marsh and a boat that looked much like this one. It was really lovely.

What i try to see is all the joy it brought to people in its day.

This immediately made me remember something I hadn't thought of in decades. When my sister and I were kidlets, we'd mess with each other by one of us calling to the other "Hey, dreamboat!" The other would look back out of reflex and the caller would then say "Not you, Shipwreck!"

There's your dreamboat turned shipwreck right there.
