Gratitude Monday -- Warm and Easy Edition

The thermostat is behind me as I sit at my desk.
If I am cold I can turn around, press an arrow, and get more heat.

It was -27C here on Saturday. We went out into the world to Red Deer and saw "The Hateful Eight."
A wonderful movie and I strongly recommend it, but if you are already cold watching a movie set in a mountain blizzard does not help.
Further, the theatre itself was cold. It wasn't just me, either.Husband wore gloves and a tuque during the show.
Despite it warming up considerably yesterday--for which I am grateful-- I still tapped up the house temperature a few degrees.
It felt good.

Today it is back to the usual temperature, at least for now.
If I am too cold I can increase the heat easily. I need only decide to do it, and for it I am grateful.

We are so lucky to have the ability to make our homes more comfortable at the touch of a dial. I, too, am grateful for that. (Doesn't keep me from hoping for a mild, short winter, though.)

Bag Lady, it is truly a wonder and not the kind of thing we think much about.
I'm all for a long, snowy winter as long as it's over by April.

I am always grateful for central heat, though I cannot afford to keep it warm enough to be comfortable. (My version of comfortable is quite tropical.) Yesterday, with the temperature in the afternoon dropping down past 15F (to land at 8F overnight) I was glad to be at work where it was warmer than at home. I was also very frustrated with my wood stove, which utterly refused to put out any heat, and sulked and smoked all day. Today, when it is almost up to freezing, it's behaving beautifully.
As always, having grown up with parents who never experienced central heating until they were grown leaves me out of step with most of my generation. As does my wonder every time I turn a tap and clean potable water comes out with no effort on my part.

We feel blessed in summer to have A/C, although we cannot afford to run it as cool as Sweetie would like. Winter here is a pussycat compared to your area and so we make do with space heaters, heating pads, and electric blankets. Yes, i'm grateful for them all.

I really enjoyed The Hateful Eight as well. Also saw The Revenant, which I liked even more, that is as cold if not colder, and probably bloodier too.

Mary Anne, a wood stove is still a good thing.

Messymimi, there are a few days in summer when I'd love to have A/C here, but it's nowhere near what you go through.
I guess it's all about what you are used to.

Chris, I'm not sure if I want to see The Revenant, but I have heard good things about it.

Brrr... I don't like the cold at all... but I am trying to make the most of winter. It is true that ''there is no bad weather, only bad clothing''. Winters have been more pleasant ever since I invested in warmer clothing! Stay warm. :-)
