A Beautiful Day

Thank you, thank you, thank you US voters.
Maybe later I'll have something of substance to say, but for now I am overcome.
President-elect Barack Obama.
I am filled with hope.

  3. I was almost at a party when he was officially declared president elect, and you could hear the screaming out on the street from the houses as I passed. It was awesome. When I got to the party, it was in full screaming, jumping and hugging mode.

  5. LG - That's amazing. All this cheering is wonderful. It's hard to believe that kind of reaction for a presidential election, but I'm so glad of it. You have reason to cheer.

TL - Beautiful words and sentiments. Yes. Ghandi was right.
    It is a happy day.

  6. I only wish the screaming and shouting had started around here a little earlier. I was doing the happy dance when the electoral count hit 220 with California still not called, because CA was a given and has 55 electoral votes. By the time the dorm rats (I live a block from the university) started their street party, I was looking at my watch, muttering, "Come on, kids, I'm happy too, but I also have a job to go to in the morning."

Elections should be on Fridays, perhaps...

  7. While I understand the need to sleep, Bunnygirl, I am absolutely gobsmacked by the singing and dancing in the streets. It is a wonderful noise.

  8. It truly was amazing to see the partying in the streets. The Canadian news channel I was watching had coverage of the mob outside the White House that took the Secret Service by surprise. I think they were a little worried at first.....
