Gratitude Monday --Saskatchewander Edition

We arrived back home late Friday after two wonderful weeks in the province next door.
Saskatchewan has a great deal going for it with respect to nature, especially birds, and this was our two week birding tour.
We saw owls and ducks and geese and lark buntings and horned larks and pelicans and many, many others.
I am grateful for all of it.
One of the best things to do when away is find the little places, the restaurants in the small towns where the locals go. Part of that is discovering menu items unique to the area, even to the eatery.
One such delight was the Harvest Moon Cafe in Val Marie, SK. One of the desserts on offer was fried saskatoon perogies served with ice cream.
Who could pass that up?
Not us.
It was very tasty and for it I am grateful

You are right, the best places are the ones where the locals go. Glad you had a good time and welcome home!

My, those look good. Maybe I'll get some blackberries out of the freezer and make pudding tonight.

(Sometimes the locals go there because there's nowhere else.)

Mary Anne, they were very tasty. I'd have them again in a heartbeat.

Glad you had fun on your wanderings! We have fond memories of that Province... our campervan (Fran the Van) was born in Saskatoon and we went to visit her birthplace once, and have some work done on her. Very homey, and as I recall they gave us a factory tour and some kind of tasty local jam to take home with us, and let us spend the night in their parking lot. Oh, but hordes of GIANT scary bugs swarmed us, they were everywhere, some kind of locust or something... horrifying and hilarious at the same time.

Thanks for setting me off on a long rambling trip down memory lane!

My pleasure, Crabby. Good to know another SK fan.
