This is my house in summer.We have snow. More than we need. It is cold. Very cold. The forecast was for -38C overnight.
I have a place to live. I have a roof over my head and a furnace that works and a nice, warm husband.
Not everyone is as fortunate as me to be sheltered when the weather gets nasty.

We made it uncomfortably close to -40C. That's the same as being uncomfortably close to 40 below F.

I still laugh with the husband that the snarkiest comment Ive ever received was one BASHING my gratitude post (can you even do that? criticize what someone is grateful for? :)).
I, too, am so freakin thankful for things like having a roof over my head and food in my belly.

It is good to be reminded that roofs and electricity and gas or wood stoves are luxuries that not everyone can afford. I am grateful for my little apartment and for the fact I seldom lose power for any length of time.

Brrrr! -40C is terribly cold. I'm glad you have a snug home and a good furnace and a nice warm hubby! :)
I heard the temperature is going down to -50C on the prairies and in northern Ontario. The year I left Alberta the temperature hovered around -40C/F for weeks in December and in January. I remember those cold nights on the farm in rural Alberta with a woodstove to keep the chill away when the power went off.
Having a roof and food is certainly an excellent state of gratitude whether it's cold outside or not. Now, if only I can get my landlord to fix the oven before the holidays arrive.

Even though the roof we had replaced last year still leaks, the slab under our feet leaks, and the rain is still falling, I join you in gratitude. We still have so much more than so many others.
