Gratitude Monday--A Learning Experience

IchaPod in the morning at Medicine Lake
We went camping at Medicine Lake north of Rocky on the weekend. Even though we didn't go until Saturday and did not make a reservation we found a spot in the campground.
It was our first time out with the new RPOD and it was quite the learning experience.
We learned the plug was missing on the water tank. We got a replacement and then found the original later.
We learned the fridge takes a great deal of power if left on the highest setting.
We learned heating the water takes a great deal of power.
We learned when the power runs out the propane warning sounds.
We learned how the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors come off when we're trying to find the source of the high-pitched warning.
We learned that sleeping bags spread out as blankets isn't as warm as it sounds.
We didn't get a chance to try the stove. We can learn about that next time.
I am grateful for all that we've learned and will learn about this kind of camping, and I am especially grateful we were only about 30 miles from home when we learned it.
Happy Victoria Day.

There's a learning curve to just about everything, these days. The beauty is in accomplishing it. Happy long weekend!

I agree there is a beauty in camping close to home. We also went camping over the weekend about 45 minutes from our abode. But the place had internet, running water etc. That's about as much as we can rough it.

My idea of camping these days is sleeping on the sofa...but your "learning experience" brings back memories of the real thing. Thanks.

Always good to do the maiden voyage close to shore.

Hilary, it does provide a sense of accomplishment.

David, roughing it means different things to different people. Glad you got away.

You're welcome, Ron.

You've got that right, Mary Anne.

We have often considered getting something similar but never had the courage to take the plunge.

The good thing about learning this stuff is that it will make next time better. It's such a shame when you learn something and can't apply it because there isn't a next time.

Happy Victoria Day!

Isn't camping a large learning experience especially when you have a trailer. There are things that happen that you never even thought of. We can't let any amount of oil happen on our stove without the smoke detector going off. But, that's a good thing, except Beatle doesn't know where to put himself. Happy Victoria Day!

What a cute little trailer. I am sure you will have lots of fun leaning about the best ways to use it ;)

Tabor, it's a big step. I think once we get everything sorted we'll like it.

Messymimi, good way to look at it. I'm hoping we will be able to apply these lessons.

Oh, Redbush, there are so many things we haven't thought of yet.

Reb, I hope so.

Well! You had a great learning weekend then. Glad you got home safe and sound after all that;)
Nice little abode...I have always wanted one. But then again, sounds like there's lots to learn and I don't know if I could do that on a holiday...:)

Thanks, Dawn. Learning is part of the fun. To a degree.
