When Bugs Are Pretty

For an insect, the green lacewing is really rather pretty.
This one was in the side garden along the house yesterday.

The green contrasts nicely to the background.

It does show rather well. Thanks.

I find praying mantises to be majestic and awesome if a bit skeery looking.

I agree w/David. The contrast makes this especially nice.

Very pretty. Makes it blend in, when it's on the grass.

Haven't been up close and personal with a praying mantis yet, VL, so I'll take your word for it.
Thanks.

Bag Lady, Mike found it, not me. To me it looked like a bit of growing greenery. I had to see it though the camera lens to know it was a critter.

I think lots of bugs are pretty. This one is great!

I have to say that for all the creepiness I feel when surrounded by a bug (or more)...they do have incredible colors and designs. I need to (try) to appreciate this;)

I know some spiders can have a nasty bite, but I've never understood the hysteria that every spider can trigger in some people. I like them.

Very pretty, on my screen, or in a photo in a book ;)

Lots of bugs have more looks than we give them credit for, and beetles are always fond of other beetles, at least. This guy is one of the better-looking-to-people ones.

Betty, me, too.

Bugs are people, too, Dawn. I get that they can be creepy to some.

Spiders are okay, Ron. I'm not scared of them unless they take me by surprise by crawling on me. Even then, it's because I'm startled, not scared.

Hmm, Reb, the Big Picture Book of Pretty Bugs?

Bugs are underrated, Messymimi.

It is a pretty one. There's not too many bugs I feel that way about but large wings seem to add to their appeal.

Lacewings are well named.

Mary Anne in Kentucky

[eutomoks? is that related to automats or tokamaks?]

Hilary, I never thought about it, but you have a point.

Aye, Mary Anne. Not sure what to make of your special word.

This is a great shot the green is awesome. There are many beautiful bugs if people took the time to look. I am glad you did. B
