In the spring any weather can happen at any time for any reason.
On Saturday we had fluffy flakes of fun falling from the sky for most of the morning.
It brought birds to the peanut feeder. The difference was this time it brought starlings as well as woodpeckers. If you enlarge the photo you should see the starling on the feeder as the woodpecker waits on the tree.
The snow stopped in late morning. By noon the melt was on.
It poured off the roof and down the spout.
And ran down the street with joyous abandon.
It was messy and sloppy and fluffy all within a few hours.
It makes spring fun, and for that I am grateful.
ETA:
I made a mistake when I put up the bird pic. It's just of a woodpecker on the feeder. Sorry.

The best part of a spring snowfall is the melt. I love that image of the downspout pouring what is hopefully the last of winter.
We had messy and sloppy and windy and drifting around here on the weekend!
I am grateful for the melting, too. Spring might come after all!
The melt is the best, Hilary. You're right. Glad you like the downspout pic. I love watching water pour out of it. In a few weeks well flip over the barrel and start collecting.
Oh, my dfBag Lady. I think you win with the drifting. Spring will be running in the ditches before you know it.
df Leah,
Change of season is my very favorite thing and it happens four times a year! Lucky me!
BTW, there is a link to you in my MTM post.
Terrie
When I was a child I loved watching the water run out of the downspouts, especially during a thunderstorm.
dfTerrie, we are lucky to live in areas where seasonal changes are obvious. They're a great marker for the passage of time.
Thanks for the link love.
Barbara, there's something fascinating about running water.
I don't mind the snowfalls that are wet like that, you know they will be gone that afternoon or the next day. I love the your last caption ... "joyous abandon", is a great description of the sound of spring melt.
Why thank you so much, Reb.
Wow...what a change in one day! We actually had a late (for us anyway) snow a few weeks ago, and it also was gone very quickly. I was glad to see it go!
It was a fast change, but pretty much par for these parts.
I'll be awfully glad to see the snow gone. I miss green.
Spring in MN is my favorite season...another winter has been conquered! Nice photos! :)
Wow, what fluffy snow! That's my favorite kind. Love the pictures!
*sigh* I love me some Texas and yet I miss seeing the spark of spring trying to peek out and nudge winter out of the way.
Hello TL, fluffy is the most fun to watch. Glad you like the pics.
MizFit, I bet I'd enjoy some time in Texas, and I like the fact you get good warm weather when we don't, but I've got to see definite changes around me or I'd never keep track of the years.
We had the fluffy stuff and immediate melt on the first day of spring here in NY. It was fun!
What a great way to celebrate the seasons.
