Trying vs. Being

Yay! Cheap roosters!
Some people try very hard to be witty, or noticed, or to draw attention to themselves or their business. Those who try too hard fail.
We know whoever put this sign up here in town knew exactly what he or she was doing. Well, except for the spelling part. While I'm all for cheap rooster night, the above incites more of a head-shake than a smile.

And then we have those for whom wit comes naturally.

I needed to have some fasting bloodwork done on Monday. That meant nothing to eat or drink after 8 p.m. Sunday. I asked my husband to put a note on the table for me as a reminder. I need someone riding shotgun for me when it comes keeping food and drink away.

He went one step further. He tied the fridge closed.

He's a natural.

Yeah, that sign is forced but I bet a few heads were turned driving by.

Ha! Your husband knows how to get your attention.

Hello David. Nice to see you here.
Yeah, the sign did its job, but it still doesn't work in the sense of happy accident.

And yes, he does.

*Snort* That hubby of yours is a natural!

Yup.

That sign is just juvenile - oh, it's for a bar, enough said. Love what Mike did to the fridge ;)

You got that right, Reb. It's pretty sad.
As for Mike, classic move.

Way toooooo funny, Leah! That better half of yours hit the nail on the head. That's what you would have to do to me if it involved fasting. For some reason, that's when I crave absolutely everything possible there is to eat! On the other hand, that sign says what it says, and doesn't do it for me as far as wit, or humor! I'm thinking it's a little tad rude!

I hear you, Redbush. The minute I can't have a food I crave it above all else. I even desperately wanted broccoli once.
On the whole I found the sign sad.

Hubby does indeed have a light touch.

I probably would have gone with chains and a padlock.

Leah J. Utas said...

Frank, I'd take it as a challenge and fire up the chainsaw.

LOL @ your hubby tying the fridge shut! Hope your bloodwork comes back A-OK. And that sign -- ACK! Yup, I'm sure they knew exactly what they were doing. :)

Blood work was just fine, thanks Thomma Lynn.
That sign is shudder-worthy.

df Leah,

That's it! I am going to commission a professional to tie my refrigerator doors shut.

Oh, wait, I have an up and down not a side by side.

Need a new plan. ;)

My dog's happy to lay in front of mine and trip all comers.

BYW, That's a good price for a cocktail. I'm driving up.

Leah J. Utas said...

Clare2e, I'll have hubby untie the fridge for your visit.

Your husband knows you well, Leah.

That's a great price for a drink, too!

Yes, he does.
