Tuesday Twosomes -- Optimism Reigns

I've been optimistic lately for a number of reasons including, but not restricted to, the reminder that the common cold will run it's course no matter what.
Said course has kept me from doing too much reading beyond the daily and weekly newspapers, and cough syrup bottles. In another example of raging optimism one name brand I found on the shelf offers both a cough suppressant and an expectorant.
It got in the way of writing, too, so I've been editing a different manuscript than the one I was rewriting. I can still think well to find many mistakes and correct most of them.
This gives me hope.
Two non-contiguous lines I read concerning the ingredients of Nin Jion Herbal Cough and Throat Syrup.
Folium  Eriobotryae (Loquat) (Leaf)
Semen Aremeniacae Amarum (Bitter Apricot) (Seed)
#
As for my error corrections, well, they're not exciting, but they must be done. I'll get back to the rewrite of Saintree as soon as I can. For now I've opened up Dead Broke. It's been sitting a few months now and the mistakes are easier to find.
Here's a sample.

" 'I thought we didn’t need cash in heaven.'
'Your security deposit will be taken out in other ways.' "

Thanks for coming by.

I hope you feel better soon!

A cough syrup with both a suppressant and an expectorant does seem a wee bit optimistic. At least the coughs that aren't suppressed should be productive.... eeeuuuwww.

Thanks, Bag Lady. Yeah, and I echo your eeeuuuwww.

Is editing easier under the influence of cough syrup? If so, I'll try it with my grading.

Leah J. Utas said...

Betty, it totally is.

I'm getting over a cold that began around Thanksgiving. I think I may be down to one syrup and night, and may not need the cough drops at my bedside. When I no longer have to sleep sitting up, I'll declare victory!

Good editing and feel clearer soon!

On the news the other day, the report that hot baths will cut the duration of colds and flu by a few days, by raising core body temperature, which kills viruses. It can't hurt to try.

Interesting lines you have there. I can hardly wait to find out how they play out.

Feel better, OK? This has gone on long enough.

Victory will be yours, Clare. I hope it's soon.

Messymimi, that sounds so wonderful.
Thanks.

Ron, thanks. I will. You're right.

I found it bizarre that they were trying to suppress my cough whilst providing help expectorating also. I never try to suppress a cough, as that is not a good thing for an asthmatic. Once I read the bottle (pharmacist helped me) I stopped and things got easier.

Like your lines. Feel better soon.

Thanks, Reb. Yes, I found the combo quite a head-shaker, too. Can't have it both ways.
Meanwhile, I never thought about it, but I can see why an asthmatic shouldn't suppress a cough.

That cold has to go soon. Doesn't it know that is has outlived its welcome?

Hope you're better soon.

Dawn, this cold simply cannot take a hint. Thanks.

I find myself wondering how it would work if you gave the cough syrup directly to the manuscript: both suppressing errors and expectorating new words.

Like the lines you shared. Sounds intriguing.

Mary Anne, that's a wonderful idea.

Dawn, thanks. I've just about chased it away.
