Whooo Did You Say You Were?

We saw this owl on Saturday. It was perched on a wire above a stubble field listening for its evening meal.
The pic's a bit fuzzy, but it's the best I could do while sneaking around. I did my best to not annoy it.
We decided it fit the description of a Boreal Owl.

Cool photo!
The Bag Lady has only seen an owl once in all the years she has been on the ranch. It was a Snowy Owl, (she thinks)-- he was sitting on top of a dead tree, and blended right in.
But she has heard many owls hooting softly in the night around here. Reminded her of those old Western movies when the Indians were about to launch an attack, and communicated by imitating an owl. So she would pull the covers over her head in a futile attempt to escape the arrows...

Thanks, dfBagLady. We see owls on occasion here. We were fortunate to see it. I was glad I had my camera, such as it was, with me.
This was my first digital photo owl.
It's getting on owl mating season.
Expect more hoots.

dfLeah,

I love the picture. Besides the owl, the sky is fabulous. Not really a cloud and yet you can see that they are there.

I agree, Reb. Owls are cool.

dfTerrie - Thanks. I never really thought about the sky, but you're right.
