We put out peanuts and peanut butter for the birds in the winter. Woodpeckers love it, so do chickadees and nuthatches.
And so do squirrels. They have yet to score a nut from the feeder but still give it a go from time to time, irrespective of how frustrating it must be for them.
I suppose we should applaud the little guys for their determination.

Cute video. I guess it's time to start loading up my feeder too. The official end to warm weather.. sigh!
Thanks, Hilary. The squirrel is pretty determined and tries several times a week to get something from the feeder.
for some reason my Toddler loves squirrels (me? I can never spell the word right) and sleeps with 3 ministuffed ones.
its quirky.
I know.
Mizfit, squirrels have their own charm.
ha! That litle guy has no idea he (she?) just made his national film debut!
WG, at least s/he'll be willing to take the pay in peanuts.
dfLeah - I have squirrels at my feeders ocasionally, too, but they always manage to get a few sunflower seeds before the Princess chases them away. Keeps them coming back for more.
Cute video!
Thanks, dfBag Lady. I'm hoping to get more as the season progresses.
Cute video. Not being allowed feeders here, we don't see a lot of squirrels. I know that we have some, just not many.
I'm sure the wily little guys are about, Reb.
