Big Month

Some green, some gold, some reflection. It's a good time of life.

November is a big month all around for me, this one especially.

Reason No. 4: As of the end of the month I'll have lived in Rocky Mountain House for 20 years. That's the longest I've stayed in one place. Ever.
Reporters move around a great deal. It's good for life experiences.
I found the love of my life here and thus found legitimate cause to stay.

Reason No.3: Within about two weeks I'll have been blogging for two years, and this marks my 444th post.

Reason No. 2: I'm unofficially Nanoing. I lacked the personal courage, and the plot, to sign up for NaNoWriMo, the national novel writing month. But then one fine night last week I got a brilliant idea in the bathtub. I realized I could combine an old, bad story that I never finished with a not-quite -as awful story that I'd barely started. Both had been around for years.
My fantasy novel opens somewhat like the bad story and I was able to use the bare bones of a few scenes. Somewhere along the line a plot fell into place. Who knows if it'll stay there.
The writing is fun. I haven't been this tickled about writing since my first manuscript.

Reason No. 1 for November being a big month: I turn 50 in just over two weeks.
I'm looking forward to it.

Now, how about you? What are your big months? Do you have any? Or is life one big, juicy celebration?

Sounds like November will be a terrific month for you, dfLeah! Congratulations on the unofficial NaNo-ing! And 20 years in one place. AND the up-coming birthday!!!

Thanks so much, dfBag Lady. It's going to be an amazing month.

Good to read you're always celebrating.

Good luck with your novel! Since you're not officially signed up for NaNo, you could try signing up for Seventy Days of Sweat. They're a little more lax in the sense that you define your own writing goal, and it can be anything as long as it's a doable challenge for you. There are no prizes, but if you need encouragement, they're there to help.

I'm still debating if I want to sign up. I'm at 43K words in my new novel and I don't really need a group to keep me on track. Still, it's fun to feel like you're part of something big.

Bunnygirl, thanks for the encouragement. I think I might check out the 70 days link.
And so good for you! 43K!

Wow, lots of great milestones. Happy upcoming birthday, and good luck with your novel! How exciting! I'm signed up for NaNo, but this year, there's no pressure. I'm using it to brainstorm for a follow-up novel, but I haven't done much of that, honestly -- I remain focused on my WIP, Heart's Chalice, so my NaNoing won't amount to much this year.

And yeah, Bunnygirl mentioned Seventy Days: it's a great writing challenge, too.

Congrats on your two year blogoversary, and Happy November! What a gorgeous picture. :)

Missicat, thanks so much. I will enjoy every month for what it is.
Happy upcoming US Thanksgiving. And happy change!

TL, The only NaNo pressure I'd have is on myself. My parallel will suit me just fine. I will consider 70 Days but it seems like the goal is more words despite the added time. I wonder some days if I could string that many together.
Thanks for all the well-wishes. Glad you like the pic.

YAY NANOBUDDY (sorry I had to get that out of my system) Isn't it great when the flow starts, well, flowing? Good luck and sail on!

20 years is definitely home.

Happy November!

Nanobuddy TA, you gave me a smile. Love the flow. Thanks. And now that I've publicly admitted to it I have to actually do it.
Scary, but in the good way.

Good for you on the NaNo! Even unofficially it will be a good challenge for you. You also have some impressive numbers this month! 20 years, 2 years, 444 posts & 50 those are all fabulous. Sounds like an excellent November for you.

Me, I take celebrations where ever I can find them.

Reb, I just know this is going to be an amazing month.
I totally agree with taking celebration where you find it.

November is definitely one of my favourite months. It's when I get serious about fishing for rainbow trout (steelhead).

Glad you have lots to celebrate and congrats on the milestones.
