Pine Block to Work of Art --Part Two

He has a good general shape here. It's time to make some holes.
Please click the photos for a good look.

The dark areas are where he filled in the natural cracks in the wood using
glue and sawdust. Then he started to drill out the mouth.

The round hole is for measuring to determine how much to take out where so he has enough material for proper teeth.
Here the back is hollowed and dental work begins.

A good set of teeth.

Mike worked between one and two hours a day on it unless he was called to his day job.

Stay tuned.

I am so impressed with his talent. I remember seeing some of Mike's work before and was stunned by how beautiful and amazing they were. Thanks for allowing us a glimpse into how his art progresses.

Thanks for sharing.

Hilary, I'll pass those kind words along. It's my pleasure to show the process.

df Bag Lady, it really is something to watch. That said, I bet you could do something similar.

Once he hollows the mouth from behind- good to know how that works- it really starts to resemble what he must've imagined from the start! *rubbing palms together in anticipation of the completed work*

Clare, that's about right.
All will be revealed tomorrow.
