Photo-Finish Friday -- Ready To Soar

A Bald Eagle prepares to take off from a tree.

My husband and I have been able to spend calm, quiet Christmases lately. Often we'll go for a drive. One such drive two years ago led us to this sight along a paved road less than 10 miles from town.
I was fortuante enough to get several photos of the Bald Eagle in the tree and in flight.

I always took those for granted until I was/am compelled to socialize this year :)

They are so dramatically beautiful in flight.

They sure are, David.

Carla, you'll get through it. Calm and quiet are never a given.

Tabor, it's a magnificent sight.

Beautiful Leah! This is not something you see everyday- those birds always take my breath away.
Wonderful capture.
(Wish my Christmases sounded so majestically peaceful;)

Beautiful!
Calm, quiet Christmases are nice. But so are boisterous, noisy ones. Ours will probably fall somewhere in between.

Me, too, Dawn. They are magnificent.

Thanks, Betty.

Thanks, Bag Lady. As long as you enjoy it.

Reb, thanks. I prefer the quiet ones myself.

We are blessed to see many nests when we go to Florida for vacation each year, and once in a while we will see one take off from the nest.

Beautifully timed shot.

It's a sight I could watch over and over again, Messymimi.

Thanks.

Beautiful!! Birds of prey are fantastic. To get a snapshot of them like that is awesome. Since moving up here I've got my camera with me at all times to get the perfect shot of one. There are apparently 2 golden eagles just up from the next village to us. One day, one day!!

Great photo, Leah.

Bald eagles are one of the birds of prey I admire.

We've been very fortunate to have a pair nesting very near our cottage the last three years. It's always a special thrill to see one.
