Gratitude Monday -- Roots

Assorted IIl 034
An icicle as it melted from the roof  in the afternoon sunshine Saturday.
For this I used my Pentax.  It was feeling lonely.
As of Saturday I've lived in Rocky for 25 years.
A quarter-century is a long time to be anywhere. It's important to like where you are, and I do. For that I am grateful.
I recall clearly the day I moved here: Wednesday, November 30, 1988. It was a mild day, no snow on the ground, and sunshine, blue sky, all in all a pleasant autumn day.
After the last load was hauled up to my third floor apartment my mother said to me, "Maybe you'll put down roots here."
Good call, mom.

Happy 25th Anniversary of your move!

That's an amazing photo, i've never seen icicles melting up close like that (if i'm where there are icicles, i'm so cold i'm hiding indoors).

I hope the Pentax is feeling satisfied now. Fantastic icicle; fantastic capture.

I'm glad you put down roots. (My fingers wanted to make "glad" a verb: I'm gladded, which I suppose could be correct if I said gladdened.)

The whole "bloom where you're planted" thing, right? Congratulations.

Messymimi, thanks. The sun was very pleasant that day, but I did shoot from indoors.

MaryAnne, I'll take "gladded." Thanks, I'm pleased the photo worked.

Chris, thanks. Yup, that's the thing.

Very prescient of your mom! And I know how happy you have been in Rocky, so I'm glad you moved there!
Great photo, too!

It's tough being uprooted so it certainly helps to re-root in a place that makes you happy. Congrats on your 25 years of successful growth. Wishing you many, many more.

Aye, it truly was, Bag Lady. Thanks.

Hilary, it does. Thanks.

Lovely photo!

And good call indeed on the "roots". Plus branches and leaves and flowers as well, by the looks of your happy life.

Thanks, Crabby. It sure was.
