But It's For The Birds
We got hold of some free peanut butter we put out for the birds.
We put it in the trough section of Mr. Snout, the feeder my husband built.
The birds want nothing to do with it. Perhaps due to the cranberry mix in it.
However,
It's a tough year out there what with all the snow. It's warmed a bit and that's going to make it even worse once it freezes again.
I do not begrudge the deer the food. I am not going to deliberately feed them, but they are welcome to it.
Even if I chased them away they'd just come back.

The deer seem quite taken with it. |

Photo-Finish Friday -- A Wild Guest
I had a deer in the front yard the other afternoon munching away at one of the plants.
When I opened the main door to get a photo it looked up at me over the porch railing. When I opened the screen door to get a better photo it fled the yard.
But it took a moment to turn around and let me know it was quite peeved over being disturbed away from its lunch.

Oh, Deer, Oh, Deer

Through my kitchen window |
They're back, and this time they mean business.
Three deer visited me the other day and helped themselves to the assorted branches, plants, and other veggie matter that my husband cleaned out of the front yard.
The pile is right outside the kitchen window. It remains there until it becomes soil and then gets spread around as needed.
These young deer had other plans for it. They seemed especially fond of the Sweet Cicely which tastes like licorice.
After taking the tastiest treats they moved on to the back yard for more Sweet Cicely, compost, and crabapple.
Mom joined them after a bit. I wish I could have gotten more pics, but the back door was too frosted to shoot through.
