From left the peaks are Normandy, Ardennes, Rhine, Elbe. A fifth peak is named after Stan Waters.
This mountain is one of my favourite sights out west. It rises majestically above the Kootenay Plains near the Banff Park border. Its name, Ex Coelis, is Latin for “Out of the Clouds” and that was the motto of the First Canadian Parachute Battalion from WWII.
You can read more here, but for now let me say this. Today is the provincial election. We commonly have lousy voter turnouts and then people complain about the government we get.
The men of the First Canadian Parachute Battalion jumped out of a plane so we could keep the right to vote in a multi-party democracy.
What have you done for them?

If only you were in charge of the marketing campaign for voting in your country...the turnout would double, I am sure!
dfLeah - the Bag Lady will exercise her right to vote - it's the least she can do!
Thanks, Holly. Some days I wish I were.
I know you'll vote, dfBag Lady. If only more people had your sense.
Thanks for the lovely picture Leah. Good thing you put in the reminder to vote, I have so much to do today, I just put that at the top of the list.
Good. That's exactly where it belongs, Reb.
df Leah,
You bring up our right and obligation to vote and also remind us that people sacrificed for many generations to help us get and keep that right. In every free nation on earth, those are thoughts worth remembering.
Vote, Canada, Vote.
Terrie
df Terrie - Thanks. It's important to me to cast a ballot. So many people either can't vote or do not have a choice at the ballot box. It's infuriating that so many of us who do have this choice do not exercise it.
I'm a staunch voter too - even if I think they're all hopeless, I still like to have my say. Too many people sacrificed too much, to do otherwise.
Thnaks, Dawn. I think they're all hopeless here so I vote for the one that'll do the least damage.
