Peace and Solitude

I needed to be outside yesterday so I went for a drive north and west of town. I listened to the birds and felt the sun and fresh air as I drove along. At a river crossing I found this small stream. It felt good there. Quiet, peaceful, and slow.
If you enlarge it the bushes in front take on an eerie, deathlike quality. In many ways it adds to the peace of the scene.

It's sunny here and the evenings are long. I know I should be writing, but our summers are short and should be enjoyed.

That looks like a lovely spot, dfLeah! And the Bag Lady knows what you mean about the long evening hours and the shortness of the summers!

dfBag Lady, this was calm and quiet even as it less than 100 feet from the swollen, loud Ram River. Quite the haven, really.

Enjoy those summer days. There's always time to write when that need arises. Both are important to you, so no need to miss out on either.

Wise words, Hilary.

df Leah,

I enlarged the picture and I see what you mean. the bushed in front are bare and seem like a gateway to a place I'm not sure I'd want to go and yet the water adn trees beyond them look inviting.

Great shot.

Terrie

Oh, great shot Leah. Even with the long days I can't seem to get anything done this week!

df Terrie - Thanks. It really is an interesting effect. The place was so inviting that I could ignore the eerieness of it.

Reb - Thanks. I know what you mean. Sometimes the longer the day the less I get accomplished.

What a beautiful picture, and yes, so peaceful. I love streams and stream crossings; they're one of my favorite places to go in the woods.

I love the long evenings in summer, too. They make for nice, leisurely hikes. :) Enjoy summer! :)

I'm totally with you on the streams and crossings, TL.
