Summer is my husband's busy time of year. Unless he's booked the time off or the weather is lousy we hardly spend any time together.
His work was rained out for a few days the other week so we took a spur-of-the-moment day trip up the Icefields Parkway to Jasper.
We saw several bears that day in about half-a-dozen "bear jams." That's where several vehicles are stopped along both sides of the highway congesting traffic.
I was quite content to let my husband take care of the bear shots, but mostly I was happy to spend the day with him.
Taking the time to play together is important.

Wow, that's cool that you saw so many bears--and even better that you got to spend quality time with hubby.
So many couples don't even appreciate the time when they get it and spend it bickering about petty things.
(Coincidentally, we saw tons of bears over the weekend too, as it was officially "bear week" in Provincetown. However, these are not "real" bears, but big burly hairy bearded gay guys who all arrive the same week to party together. Still makes for some good wildlife watching though).
Love the bear photos, dfLeah. And it's always nice to hear that you and hubby got to spend some time together.
Yes, it was cool, Crabby.
Your bear sightings sound pretty interesting and exciting.
Thanks, df Bag Lady. The cubs were awfully cute.
Sounds and looks like a wonderful day, Leah. Bears are incredibly beautiful, eh?
Yes, Hilary, bears are beautful creatures. And it was a wonderful day. It's important to use the time we have as best we can.
df Leah,

dfTerrie - I'll pass the compliment on to Mike. He did do a really good job with the pics.
Glad you've got the time to visit.
Lovely photos Mike! I am glad you got to spend time together.
Thanks, Reb. I'll let him know.
Frolicking bear cubs! Glad y'all had a good time. Last time I saw a black bear (was hiking on Old Rag Mountain) I was too scared to take a picture. Yes, am such a city girl....
Hello Missicat, don't blame you a bit for being scared.
SQUEE! That's awesome that you got those bear photos! :) I love bears. And bear cubs are precious -- they love to play and wrestle.
And how wonderful that you got to spend good quality time with your hubby!
TL, it really was amazing to see all those bears that day and getting the pics of the cubs was wonderful. It was a great day all around.
