Signs of Life

Green is still out there though less and less of it is apparent.
I've seen a few smaller fields of it here and there the past few days. It's kind of startling to see green against the dried yellows of fall.
This bit of rose bush stood out against the dead leaves on the ground at Crimson Lake on Sunday.
Good to see life hanging on as best it can for as long as it can.
Nature is a fighter. She's a good role model for us.

Good morning Mizfit. It's good to read that my words are appreciated, thank you.

I reckon we could all take a lesson from that little green bit... hang on til the bitter end!

Hello TA. That's a good lesson.

There are still tiny bits of green around here, too. Hanging in there. I even have a tenacious little pansy growing from between the rocks in my "sidewalk", still blooming!

Go little pansy!

I guess there's quite the overnight temperature differences here. We still have lots of green everywhere. And those with green thumbs still have many flowers growing strongly.

It must be that survivors nature in us that makes us look for first signs of green in the spring, and then cling to them in the autumn. And every now and then we're gifted with green growing through snow.. through rock.. through all sort of unexpected surfaces.

Definitely agree!
I also agree with Hilary - we will get crocuses (croci?) peaking up through snow - beautiful!

Hello Hilary. The bit of green through snow gives me a lift.
Missicat - a crocus in the snow. Beautiful.

We're getting some beautiful golds and reds these days, so I'll try not to mourn the waning green too much.

To everything there is a season...

Very true. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the new fall colors, Crabby.

Yes, nature is a wonderful role model. Our rose bush out front is blooming! I'm going to get a picture and post it on my blog. Just amazing.

But I need to do it quick because a cold front is moving in today, meaning, very likely, the first frosty nights of the season.

I'm looking forward to your rose bush pics, TL.
Get ready for the frosty nights!

I love the last bits that hang on so tenaciously that is why my pots aren't empty yet. Lovely photo Leah!

It's good to see life hanging on as long as it can, Reb.
Thanks.

And at my end of the world, I'm wondering which of my roses will be the first to flower. I've got my money on Madame Gregoire Staechelin at the moment.

Hello Dawn, and Happy Spring.
