Mountains Make It Better

Taken near Saskatchewan River Crossing on the Banff-Jasper Parkway just inside Banff National Park. Click, enlarge, enjoy.

I find mountains calming. They have a grounding energy and a quiet, graceful deliberateness that counteracts all the rushing about, worry, stress, and silly need for constant contact we have in our world today.

Give me a lonesome day in the fresh air surrounded by trees and a mountain to sit with and I am happy.

What about you? What brings you peace?

your word choice as always makes me smile.
Last night a friend and I had a long debate about the word lonesome (and some chatting about the word ALONE as well).
She sees it as 100% negative.
Not I.
and, it seems, not you either.

Sunshine and water works for me. Though I have no doubt that if I were to live near such beauty, those mountains would sure do it for me too. Beautiful!

Lonesome's much too poetic a word to be negative, MizFit. Good to know others see that, too. Glad I made you smile.

Hilary, I can understand sun and water. They're very calming.

Thanks.

Water is my favorite. But combine water and mountains for a double whammy.

Love that photo, dfLeah! Mountains do have a calming effect. They also make me feel my problems are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks, df Bag Lady. They do put life in perspective.

You might as well have phrased that as "click, enlarge and eat your heart out"! Mountains are the best for calming and as Sis said putting things into perspective. Sitting in sunshine somewhere quiet with trees and maybe water works too.

Lovely as always dear cousin.

Thanks, Reb. Sitting in sunshine is great and even better when propped against a friendly tree.
But mountains, well, they're the best.
I hope seeing the pics helps.

Yup, you sound like me. :) Poison ivy or no, nothing can keep me off my mountain. I'm going for another hike tomorrow.

I love the mountains. There is nothing like the peace, serenity, and simultaneous calm and rejuvenation to be enjoyed there. And yes, sun and water -- I particularly love the sound of flowing water.

A beautiful photo as always! :)

Thomma Lynn, that's exactly it, rejunvenation.
Oh, to be by a mountain stream.

I hope your poison ivy clears up soon.
Glad you like the pic.
