Spring is in bloom in our front yard.
This is a prairie anemone. It's brief, glorious blossom is nearly over.
Fritillarias.
The nanking cherries are in full flower and this makes the honeybees busy. Warning: enlarge this photo at your own risk.
A wider shot of the nanking cherries along our driveway.
The tulips are in bloom.

We have several cherries planted along a particular road here in Maine and my wife and I love that path for the scenic take (and smell).
Fritillarias! I've always wanted to try them, and now I have proof they grow for Real People.
Mary Anne in Kentucky
They really are beautiful, David.
Mary Anne, yes they'll grow, but you must be patient. It takes three or four years for them to bloom and they look like little blades of grass when they are small.
Great photos, cousin. I have a little flower in my flowerbed that looks very similar to your fritillaria except it is purple with white spots. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. I also tend to be really surprised when I see it because it is so sneaky about growing.... it's just suddenly there, nodding it's head sleepily in the sun.
This reminds me that the trees on the university campus must be blooming, too. I'll have to get over there and see if those are as lovely as yours.
Thanks, Cousin. Your mystery flower sounds intriguing.
Messymimi, thank you. Each bloom has its own beauty.
What a lovely back yard. I really dig the natural favor.
Mary
Your front yard must look spectacular! I'm not partial to bees, but, know we need them for pollination. I'm especially afraid of wasps and hornets! I love your bear header!
Thanks, Mary.
Redbush, my husband has degrees in forestry and botany. The front yard is his tapestry. Glad you like the bear pic.
This takes me back.. about 2 or 3 weeks ago. ;) Nice to see that spring has started in earnest there. Lovely flowers.
Thanks, Hilary. Yes, it is finally here.
