Photo-Finish Friday --Wheeling Through Time

My husband and the world's largest wagon wheel and pick axe at Fort Assiniboine.

Fort Assiniboine, Alberta, is my hometown and the second oldest Fort in Alberta. The wheel was put up a few years ago as a tourist attraction and to drive home the fact that the Fort is on the Klondike Trail.

That's a great shot, Leah. If you hadn't said, I wouldn't have noticed the pick axe! Nice one.

Have a great weekend.

That is quite the tourist attraction. I'd stop.

David B., thanks. The axe isn't so obvious at first.

David C., it is. And it's a nice location, too.

Thanks, df Bag Lady. How 'bout that hometown?

It's a good place from whence to hail!

There's no place like home, and nothing like taking the time once in a while to see the sites nearby.

That's one I'd want to see someday, as the word "Klondike" means possibilities and adventure to me.

That's a great photo Leah. Thanks for the links too.

That's right, Messymimi. I think many people share your view of Klondike.

Mary, it's very pleasing to the eye.

Reb, thanks, and my pleasure.

Wow.. pretty cool!

That's an impressive piece of woodworking. I have a perverse desire to see some giant creature pick up that pick and smash the picnic table!

(Now I have to go look up the difference between a village and a hamlet.)

That's a very big wheel. Great pic (pardon the pun - you know pick-axe. Groan)

Leah J. Utas said...

Mary Anne, it certainly is. I'm not so sure I'd want to meet the creature who could wield it.

Laurita, your puns are welcome here. Thanks.

Wonderful photo.
It's true what they say, when you live in a place- you aren't the greatest tourist of it.
I too live in Alberta and often wonder why I travel out of it to find sites as these!
I think I need to explore my great province on a deeper level...
Thanks for the picture.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Hello Dawn,

Our province has a great deal to offer. All we have to do is look.

Thanks for stopping in.
