Oh, Deer, Oh, Deer

Through my kitchen window

They're back, and this time they mean business.
Three deer visited me the other day and helped themselves to the assorted branches, plants, and other veggie matter that my husband cleaned out of the front yard.
The pile is right outside the kitchen window. It remains there until it becomes soil and then gets spread around as needed.
These young deer had other plans for it.  They seemed especially fond of the Sweet Cicely which tastes like licorice.
After taking the tastiest treats they moved on to the back yard for more Sweet Cicely, compost, and  crabapple.
Mom joined them after a bit. I wish I could have gotten more pics, but the back door was too frosted to shoot through.

Now that's a great in the moment action shot.

Oh deer...as the winter progresses let us hope that they leave you live plants alone.

Thanks, David.

Tabor, I hope so, too, but if it's a hard winter I think we'll be seeing a lot of them.

It's great when they visit, as long as they don't eat too much! :)

Watch your bird feeders - they love sunflower seeds.

That over the shoulder look is priceless. "Is she going to interrupt our snack?"

Bag Lady, their visits are a treat. For a while. Thanks for the tip. Our remaining bird feeders are too high for them, but there are seeds on that compost pile.

Mary Anne, good one.

I enjoy watching the wildlife around our place, but have lost some pretty darn expensive trees because of the visits. So I'm torn....
My pretty much invites them over and sits and watches them snack- so I'm on my own if I won't them to go away:)
Good shots....they don't seem too concerned with you and your camera;)

Dawn, I understand. Not much we can do to keep them away at night. I did shoo them after a while. As long as I stayed in the house they were okay with the camera.

Thanks for the deer shot...they are either very tame or very cheeky to come into your yard like that.

Ron, I think it's both.

Wow, that's so neat. We don't have deer here, and I'm always amazed at them. How bold they are to walk right up to your house.

Hmm, it's a shame they won't stay around and give you their own form of fertilizer in return, if you would want to use that. Very ungrateful of them.

Oh, they're wonderful. It must be so lovely to have them visit.

Laurita, the deer wander at will here though it's usually at night.

Messymimi, you'd think they'd want to give a little something back.

Hilary, they're fine to see, but we fear for the plants and trees.

Lovely lovely photo. I shall hide it so hubby doesn't see!
