Photo-Finish Friday -- Selling Her Wares

A Mayan woman sells her colourful, hand-made creations in front of a church across from the market in Guatemala City.

I added this second photo to show how laden she was.

That's a lot of merchandise. My kids get cranky when they have to carry their jackets upstairs.

She was fairly weighted down, Laurita. But she got about unimpeded.

I love the bright colours in the rugs over her shoulder! Hope she sold lots of them.

The brightness made for a happy sight, Bag Lady. Many people did this. I think it may have been their only source of income. I, too, hope she did well.

Quiet dignity in her as she shows the beauty of her skill.

I spent a month in Guatemala in 1962, and your pic brings back memories of those brilliantly colored Indian-made woven fabrics. Had a brilliant blue heavy shirt with a quetzal on the back which I wore for years. Whatever happened to it? Thanks.

So bright and beautiful. Great photos Leah.

Rather colorful but it reminds us of the grinding poverty of the people.
