Photo -Finish Friday --Mayan Ruins

Many of the Mayan archeological sites were covered to prevent damage from the sun.

I regret I can't recall which site this is from, nor what it is, but every time I see it I crave pie.

Good to know it's not just me, Laurita and Bag Lady.

The Mayan ruins are quite awesome (in the original meaning of that word). I was at Tikal in 1962 not long after the structures there were being cleared of jungle growth.

I want pie too, lemon meringue for me though please ;)

Ron, that must have been a magnificent experience.

Certainly, Reb.

Wonder what its real use was; it was certainly meant to be more than a pie craving inspirer, though it does a great job at that, too.

Leah, I can see why you say that about the pie. Interesting object.

I can see why you would think of pie but I see a mushroom?

Pie, definitely pie. I just assumed it was some sort of weird advertising thing, and was trying to make out what kind of Mayan artifact the tree trunk was, when I read on down.

Cool! It does look like a pie...wonder what the heck it really is? If you ever figure it out, let us know!

I was at the Belize ruins about six years ago. Extraordinary feeling walking about one of the oldest structures on the planet.

Messymimi, I wish I could remember.
Yes, Barbara, it sure is.
Red, I can see a mushroom, too, but pie wins.
Mary Anne, it does make one wonder what it is supposed to be.
Cheryl, I'll update when I can.
David, it is hard to put in words how it feels to walk through history.
