Shadows are evocative things. They show us how we think and how we view the world.
These shapes are the simple products of river grape leaves growing on our house and sunlight at play on the bird condominium out front.
It caused many interesting things in the mornings from the creatures of Seussian whimsy:
to the horrors of the nightscape.
What do you see when you look in the shadows?

I am delurking from the shadows to say I ADORE all things Theodore Geisel.
And I'd forgotten about the shadows until having my daughter.
Sad, but true.
Now they're a daily part of our play.
Loved this post.

Thanks for delurking. The shadows enrich our lives in so many ways.
I'm glad you liked this post and I'm glad that they're part of your daily play.
Shadows are definitely fascinating, if one slows down enough to look at them. The same thing with clouds! Remember looking up and seeing animals??
Sibu, won't play chase the flashlight beam, he watches it for a minute, then looks at the flashlight. He will play chase the shadows though and can't seem to make the connection between his own tail and the shadow on the wall. It is very funny to watch him.
Slowing down to notice the world whether in shadows or clouds enriches life and exercises our imaginations.
Chasing your own shadow is a worthy pastime. What does Sibu do when he catches it?
Love the shadow photos! Have been scrambling around in my brain for something clever to say, but for some reason this morning, I've got nothing. Sigh.
Perhaps it's the light that creates them, but shadows seem to enhance the beauty of everything around them. Except of course for the shadows under my eyes..
Thanks, df Bag Lady.
They add a layer of wonder, don't they, Hilary?
Stare long enough and it can change...very cool!
Yes, it sure can, Mark.
Wow! I have to start paying more attention to shadows!
Terrie
df Terrie - I recommend it. They are very good for the imagination.
Shadows are fun. The patterns of light and shadows in the woods are especially fascinating to me. And I see all kinds of things in them and try to capture them on camera but often the camera doesn't see them quite the way my eye does! :)
I'm kind of oblivious to shadows, need to pay more attention.
But I love the kind when the sun is low that make me look 15 feet tall. Those are cool.
TL - I agree about forest shadows they are most interesting.
Crabby - I used to have so much fun with shadows when I was younger pretending I was really tall. I think I should get out and do it again.
Hey - you changed your blog!! It looks great - love the squirrel. And every time I threatened to run away as a child, my mom would answer "Write when you get work"...
I love that you used that!
