Gratitude Monday - Fishing Instead

Mitchell Lake, southwest of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

I went fishing instead.
I was going to plant my garden yesterday. Mike dug the compost into it in the morning and then dug up some lawn on the west side of it to add a few more feet of growing space. I was going to plant things right afterward.
Earlier that morning, just before getting out of bed, I pictured it in my mind and decided where the spices, carrots, and peas would go. The onions went in on Saturday in the few extra feet I added a few weeks ago. Remaining space could house the lettuce and radishes. If there was still space available it would be home to a random potato.
Rather than do all this work we decided to spend the afternoon on a canoe on a local lake. We never know when Mike will have a day off. I can put in a garden while he's at work, but I can't fish with him.
Yesterday was the time we had. We used it. Instead of gardening we went fishing. We didn't catch anything, but that does not matter.
I spent the afternoon relaxing on a lake with my husband and I am grateful.

I know it feels (to me at least) as tho I say the same sort of stuff all the time here.
I just read your posts and immediately think: Good lord inside your head seems like a nice quiet grateful place to reside.

I don't blame you one bit, cousin! Fishing on a quiet lake on a warm sunny day with your hubby beats gardening hands down! Just ask me. :)

Oops, forgot to say - I love the new header, too!

Carla, it's a little too quiet sometimes. All kidding aside, gratitude is there.

Bag Lady,it seemed like the best use of time. Glad you like the header. Mike took this pic our trip up the Parkway about two years ago.

You have a great life...gardens, fishing. I agree with Carla. It is nice and quiet.

Love that pic. It could become your new banner when you decide to switch. Canoe on a lake? Sounds like the perfect Sunday to me.

Mary, I really do.

David, thanks. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

God bless ya' both. You did the right thing. Very nice, peace-inducing pic, too.

Is that your shot of the bear? S/he's a handsome beast.

Yaay for a day on the lake!! Stealing the quote here (from whom I do not know) but..."The worst day fishing is better than the best day working." Think I'd like to put up a "Gone Fishing" sign this Monday morning/afternoon.

Can't blame you one bit, Leah. I would have done the same.. if Frank would have me. ;) I love the new header.. gorgeous beastie! And that boat photo is so peaceful.

Frank, thanks. I knew you'd understand. Mike took that one during on of our trips up the Jasper-Banff Parkway. I took a few, but he was less apprehensive so his were better.

Conny, I wish you could, too.

Hilary, maybe if you ask him nice he'll take you. Glad you like the bear, it is a fine one.
It's gratifying to know my canoe pic is such a hit, too.

I can't think of a better way to spend time. The garden will wait a day or so.
