Twofer Tuesday--Now With Goats!

My favourite book is Heidi. Johanna Spryi's tale puts me right on the alm, listening to the wind in the trees. To this day goat cheese, especially melted, brings me right back to the alm-uncle's hut.
Consequently I was reasonably excited when my husband brought home Heidi Grows up.

A good excuse to run a goat photo.

He'd rescued it from the recycling table at the town dump. Plenty of people leave books there for the taking. He's brought home dozens and I've found a few gems myself.
This is our current bedtime story. It's a bit disappointing. She's away at school and it's a dry read so far. I was tempted to give it back to the table, but my husband is still okay with reading it out loud to me.
Who knows? The author is Charles Tritten who was Spyri's translator. Perhaps that bodes well for this sequel.

Without further ado, here are two lines:

" 'As for you, Heidi, you may move into Jamy's room and take what's left of your little goat cheese with you.'
'Oh, thank you, Mademoiselle!' Heidi exclaimed gratefully."

I'm plugging away on my current WIP. Some days it flows. Other days not so much.
I may have to take a few think days to sort out what direction to take.
Meanwhile, fresh offerings from Dead Broke:

" ' I have a lot of faith in you, sweetheart. I always did. Even when you stayed up late at night locked in your room practicing how to cheat at cards, I had faith.' "

Thanks for coming here. I appreciate it .

A fine twofer. I've never read Heidi and I can only vaguely recall seeing the movie once.. eons ago. And I could be confusing that with Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. I associate those two titles together for some reason. I kid you not.. and speaking of which.. I love that goat photo. And the header is like a breath of fresh spring air.

Carla, I am sure the flow is restored.

Hilary, thanks. I'm not sure I've ever seen the Heidi movie, but I have several copies of the book.
Nice segue with kid to goat. Glad you like the pic and the header.

I loved the book Heidi! And still love to eat melted cheese with bread.

Your lines are wonderful.
Looking forward to more.

DF Bag Lady, good to know I'm not the only Heidi fan, and melted cheese fan.
I'm glad you like my lines. There'll be more.

Heidi the book always made me cry and the movie practically sent me to the loony bin it was so said. I love your pictures and your thoughts.

I love goat cheese. And goats. (And not just because they create goat cheese.) What a wonderful picture! I have fond memories of the Heidi story, so I ill be interested to hear what you think about this one.

Mary, seems to me it made me cry, too. Thanks you for the wonderful compliments.

MRI Tech School, go to hell.

Laura, another goat fan, yay! Glad you like the pic.

Amen to your comment to MRITech! Also, any excuse for a goat photo is righteous! More goats! More goats! *pounds desktop*

I also like your cheeky two from Dead Broke!

The goats are my favorite animals at the petting zoo besides watching the bats. Those in your picture are quite cute.

"Heidi" is a wonderful book, although I've never tried the sequels.

Good lines. Sounds like faith is as blind as love in this case. As always, it leaves me wanting more.

Clare, thanks re: my response to MRI.
Glad we agree on goats. I shall do my best to run more photos. I'm tickled you like my lines.

Messymimi, goats are the best. Can't say I've ever cozied up to a bat, but they have their place.
Thanks.

I know I read Heidi Grows Up, but I remember nothing about it. I think I only took it out of the library once. I read Heidi several times, but it's not one of my extra favorites.

Rocky mountain goats are my favourite and aptly placed with mention of a 'Heidi' book. I've only read the first Heidi book (many times) and watched various versions of the movie. Loved it when younger, and now I wonder if the appeal would still hold today.

For your two: faith wins through everything. Intrguing.

Leah J. Utas said...

Solarity, so far there's nothing memorable about it.
Barbara, I love the goats, too, and will use any excuse to run a pic.
Thanks.

Heidi has always had a special place in my memories, too, Leah. I'm sure the next lines for your script will come to you soon. I love the willows on your header. Blue willow was always one of my favourite childhood books, as was the Wind In the Willows.

I didn't know there was a sequel to Heidi. You'll have to tell us if it's worth reading - or being read to in this instance.

Redbush, Heidi seems to have touched many of us.
I've never heard of Blue Willow, and thanks re: the pic.

Hello Nancy, I didn't know either until my husband brought it home. So many have shown interest that when we're done I think I might post about it.
