Gratitude Monday -- It's Weird But It Works Edition
Who doesn't?
Recently I have changed my attitude toward my computer to the point I no longer see it as an inanimate object, but rather a device molded from once-living materials. Like any living creature it wants to be appreciated.
This may be a bit of stretch so let's take it down to its simplest expression: everything is energy and energy responds to what we send it. Be nice to the energy and the energy will be nice to you.
The slice of quartz that runs the show is from a living object. It has a consciousness. Treat it kindly.
If you are grateful for your computer and what it does for you, tell it so. I have been thanking mine lately and even told it I love it a few times.
I swear it is working better. It was having issues shutting down and would freeze at the last second. Since I have been doing this it shuts down quicker and has even not frozen a few times.
On the physical side I changed a few things around so the back up battery isn't right behind it. Perhaps that was enough to keep it slightly cooler thus not requiring the extra time to pop off properly.
But I maintain showing it appreciation is key. When I do this I am also putting out gratitude to the Universe and that is always the right move.
I am grateful for my computer, for it working better, and for me forming the thought to do it and acting on the thought.

If Today Were A Flower…
Would you care for it and love or would you callously step it as you go about your day, never giving it another thought?
Would you look at it and bend down to inhale its sweet, subtle fragrance?
Would you look at it deeply? Or would you reach down and snap it off at the base because it was in your way?
If you carelessly trod on it would you stop and apologize and gently right it? Or would you keep going to do your important business?
If today were a flower in your path would you appreciate it for what it is or would you demand to know why it hasn’t produced any seed for you yet?
Would it be pretty enough for you? Would it measure up to your idea of what a flower is?
Or would you pick it and take it inside and put it in a vase for your own personal enjoyment until it died?
If today were a flower would you be satisfied with it? Or would you long for it to be a different flower?
If today were a flower, what would you do?

List Your Abundance
It’s common to stack our belongings against our perception of everyone else’s. We dwell on only taking a week’s vacation when the neighbors went for two weeks, or lament that their plasma TV is bigger and newer.
We’re spoiled, shallow, and empty. We’ve bought into the silly notion that bigger and newer is always better. If we can’t afford it, then we’ve failed. We turn to credit to help us fit in with society because that new toy is important to our happiness. Credit exists. Why not use it?
Big new toys make us feel important, successful, and abundant. They fill the hole ripped in our psyches from not taking the time to appreciate what we do have.
What to do?
The first step is to determine what you’ve got. Document your abundance.
Get a pen and paper and make a list. Start with the basics.
Look around your house. You’re indoors, right? Then you’ve got a roof over your head.
Have you got food in the fridge? Cable television? A car?
What else have you got?
If you’ve got food, clothing, and shelter, then you’re leaps and bounds ahead of the millions of homeless and starving people in North America alone.
Write down everything you can think of including the clean air you breathe and the potable water from your kitchen tap.
Funny thing is, when you make this list you begin to understand how much you have.
Include your friends and family on you list, too.
If you immediate wants and needs are met, then you’ve got real abundance. Acknowledge it and be grateful for it. Many people around you and millions more around the world consider you rich.
