My Husband's Carvings

My husband spends his free time in the winter carving masks.
His current project is a lynx. This is how it looked a few days ago.

This is it now.
He has also made a raccoon.

And wolfie was a very big hit.

He spends one to two weeks per mask depending on what needs to be done, i.e. carving, burning, painting, adding whiskers.

Wow, they're amazing! I can't even decide which one I like best! Does he sell them or does he just do them for fun?

He is so talented! Very good job on all of them....like TA, I can't decide which is my favourite, either.

Tokaiangel, thanks so much. It's both. He does this for his own pleasure and then they are for sale.

dfBL - Yes he is. Thanks. They're all amazing, but wolfie has a special place in my heart.

Leah,
Talk about turning you loose with a camera. These are great photos of the masks. Your husband seems like a master when it comes to wood working.

Tom, thanks. Only the lynx pic is mind, though. The macro feature on the new Olympus is great. Husband does amazing woodwork. Our front yard has several other critters he's made over the years.

Wow, he's so talented--the masks have so much personality!

(At first I misread the title as "My Husband's Cravings," which who knows, might also make an interesting post!)

Yes, they really do, Crabby. Thanks.

Wow! Those carvings are beautiful. I can see why the wolf is your favourite.. it's a beauty. They all are in fact. Thanks so much for posting them. He's a very talented guy.

Thanks, Hilary. Yes, he sure is. I walked into the living roon once not knowing wolfie was there and it startled me silly.

Wow, I cannot fathom how a person's mind can work that way to create something that great. Me -- I can write a song, a poem now and then but give me something to carve or mould and I do not have the skill. Whatsoever.

Jannie, thanks. He does something that he loves. I had a read of your site. You've got some beautiful words.
