Sunset comes early in late fall and with it stark reminders of the cold.
Fading sun against the clouds has its own beauty. The last thin fingers of sun try to warm the boughs by casting them in deep shadow as the branches stretch out to grasp the dying light.

do you love it, Leah? the early dark?
why do I imagine you might?
not me.
the warmth outside makes it a bit more bearable but I prefer the longer days.
Good call, MizFit, in oh so many ways I do love the early darkness. It's calming and cocoonlike. Makes the world disappear.
Love the photo, cousin. And your prose is wonderful.
I'm more of a long-summers'-evening sort of gal, myself.
Thanks so very much, df Bag Lady. I love the long summer eves, too, but winter light is beautiful.
Beautiful!
These days it is dark when I go to work and dark when I get home...*sigh* On the plus side, I do tend to get to bed earlier!
So without the help of the picture and beautiful writing, I would have failed to appreciate how beautiful the winter light could be. Thanks for helping me relook at it!
Thanks, Missicat. I go to bed earier, too. I'm sure it's the instinct to hibernate. And you get more snuggle time with the kitties.
Crabby, thank you so much. There's so much to appreciate everywhere if we know how to look.
Your photos, blog and way of being in the world help me to appreciate the every day. Thanks so much Leah.
Hello, Conny. It's good to see you here. I'm so glad you enjoy my blog and thank you so much for telling me.
I hope you stop in often.
My camera used to be a reason to go out and get a bit of exercise but it's become an instrument to teach me to love all sorts of light.. and even it's near-absence. Beautiful photo and sentiment, Leah.
We learn so much through the lens, Hilary. Thank you for your kind words.
What a great shot Leah!
Thanks so much, Reb.
I was driving across the moors late last night and the moon was reflecting off the snow - the whole place was lit up! Even in the pitch black I could see right across the hills. It was so beautiful I stopped the car to have a look. I thought of you actually - I wanted to do a Leah-style post on it, but I chickened out! It was so otherwordly though, never seen anything like it.

Tokaiangel, that sounds magnificent. I'm so glad you stopped to appreciate it. And I'm quite touched you thought of me.
You're such a good writer. I'd love to read your thoughts and description of it in a post.
