We went out for our traditional Christmas drive yesterday. It's a good day to go as most people are inside stuffing themselves stupid and then sleeping it off. The world is mostly quiet and the animals come out to play.
This stag had two does out with him for an afternoon hay feast. He was intrigued by us and when he saw the camera he very courteously posed.
Here he is being playful.
Inquisitive.
And pensive.
He was a bit of a ham, but he enjoyed it and so did we.
I hope you do, too.

Great photos, dfLeah! What a ham, indeed.
My stag was back again for his sunflower seed addiction, so the whole family got to see him in real life!
dfBag Lady, thanks. It was fun seeing him.
Glad to know yours came back so everyone could have a look.
Thank you for these awesome pictures! First of all I have seen very little real snow in my lifetime and secondly it is always a treat to see nature's creations at play. I've been very close to groups of does, coyotes, foxes, squirrels you name it, and even one bobcat but the bucks tend to runoff before I can get an eyefull.
Thank you Erin, and you're very welcome.
You're right, it is a treat to see wild things.
He's beautiful. Lucky you to get such good photos!
I see a future in Hollywood for that stag. He obviously wasn't fazed by the attention at all. Good idea getting out for a drive. I did my usual early morning walk and had the world to myself.
Bunnygirl, thanks. Yes, he was quite something.
He was very proud, Dawn.
I love the early morning, too. It's so peaceful.
Nice buck for a young 'un. His rack is just starting. Great photos!
Thanks, Barbara. Young, yes, but oh so proud.
Lovely, photos Leah. I am so glad he consented to pose for you.
Thanks so much, Reb. We were blessed.
What a gorgeous critter. He must have sensed that you meant him no harm. Lovely of him to share his time with you. Lovely of you to share it with us.
Thanks, Hilary. We were so happy to see him. He must have known what a thrill it was for us.
It really does look like he's posing! What a great series of shots.
Sounds like a very peaceful and pleasant adventure!
Thanks, Crabby. It really was time well spent.
Oh wow, what great pictures you got of the stag! Thank you for sharing.
Where we hike, there are many deer, but they're so shy, and they're hard to catch a glimpse of, let alone get photos of. You're very lucky to run across a stag who likes to ham it up for the camera! :)
Thank you, Thomma Lynn. We have plenty of deer here, but we mostly see females. We were quite lucky to see a stag and very lucky to find one who was not the least bit shy.
amazing photos and yes I loved it.
and as we have established :) adore the snow---from afar.
Hello MizFit, I'm so pleased you liked the photo series.
