Photo-Finish Friday --Gone Fishing Edition

Yesterday was a beautiful autumn day. It was the kind of day you know in your heart is a gift and if you don't accept it, then you'll kick yourself on all those other days that are less a gift.
My husband had the day off so we escaped. We took a drive out west along the BigHorn Highway, known here as the Forestry Trunk Road, and spent part of the morning fishing at the pond pictured above.
This pond was once a gravel pit. It has long since been reclaimed and is stocked with trout. It's a gorgeous setting and it makes what would have been an eyesore into a relaxing destination spot.
The fish outsmarted us, as fish do, so we let them be and went on our way further down the trunk road. It made for a wonderful day in the West Country.

LOVE the sentence "the fish outsmarted us as fish do" (ok thats a sentence snippet :)) as it ooozes with the attitude I wish to adopt today.

Not getting IRRITATED ("we came all the way out here and didnt catch ANYTHING!!") but going with the flow and realizing all we control is ourselves....

letting go. letting G-d.

That used to be a gravel pit? Wow, nice renovation!

Sounds like a wonderful day.

Lovely area. I've long since learned by Frank's attitude and by my own experience that it's not about the catching of fish, but about the day. A catch is just the bonus. Thanks for sharing this part of your wonderful day.

Miz, I say it's all about the being. If I only cared about catching the fish I'd be in a lousy mood and the would miss out on the wonderful world around me.
It's really not about the fish.
That said, I wouldn't say no to reeling one or so in on occasion.

Crabby, the County has reclaimed several such pits as fish ponds. It was a wonderful day.

Hilary, that's exactly it. It's the experience of it, the being, if you will.

dfBag Lady, it is a beautiful, relaxing spot. I'm happy to share my great day with you.

What a gorgeous picture! And it sounds like you and your hubby had a great time. *giggling* at "fish outsmarted us!" They are excellent at outthinking us humans, aren't they? ;)

Thanks, Thomma Lyn. It was a wonderful day. Fish, and most other critters, can outsmart me without a lot of effort.

I guess it's true what they say, eating fish makes you smarter. Not catching fish makes you philisophical.

Thanks as always for sharing the gorgeous pictures.

Good point, Fifth. Thanks.

Lovely photo of a relaxing place. Fishing whether one catches any is a perfect activity to relax and enjoy the scenery.
