|A freakin' wonder drug.|
The Coca-Cola in Egypt is tasty. Whatever else is in it, it's sweetened with at least some cane syrup. It makes a difference.
But that's not why I'm posting. Mike was getting a bit ill on the trip and was told by the tour guide one of the best ways things to drink for it is Coke. He noted this was a good preventative as well.
Mike had a Coke. He was better almost immediately. He drank a Coke a day after that and was fine.
I drink Coke on vacation anyway as I like to see what other countries do to it. The only time I didn't was last year in Cuba when I drank the local knock-off, Tukola. It was good, but it's the only vacation where I've gotten sick.
I am grateful for Coke.
NB: Coca-Cola has not approached me for this. It has not enticed me in any way to write this. As far as I know Coke has never heard of me and likely never will.
I have not been paid, hired, or visited upon in any way by the Coca-Cola Company.
I am only telling the story of something that happened.
I love this.
The things we are grateful for swing wildly huh?
Carla, there are a wide range of things under the sun.
Vacations go better with Coke!
Thanks for the tip - if I'm ever in a foreign country, I'll be sure to try the Coke.
My pleasure, Bag Lady. Tasting it makes a good science experiment if nothing else.
That's cool. It never would have occurred to me that Coke would be different but of course it would.
Hilary, I think it's because the base for it, the Coke syrup is imported and therefore standard. It's what a country gets up to next that makes the difference.
Bossy Betty, we cross-posted. Edgar Cayce maintained that drinking a bit of non-carbonated Coke every other day (I think) was good for the kidneys.
I have finally given up coke and here you are tempting me ;)
I could taste a difference between that bottled in GP and that here in Edm, not much, but there. Big difference to that which I tasted in AZ. The coke we had in Italy stands out in my memory too.
Cane syrup does make all the difference in the Coke formula. It makes curious what that Coke tastes like. You have a delightful blog. Stay safe and mind your surroundings when you travel. Roland
Yes, using real sugar versus corn syrup makes a huge difference. After all, it was originally supposed to be a medicine, for upset stomachs mostly, and it was the real sugar that did it.
Reb, it seems to me you were drinking Diet Coke and that is abomination. Further, the sweeteners used in diet drinks turn off the signal in the brain that tells us we're full. Drink the original or not at all. I have spoken.
Totally agree with you about the Coke in Italy. It's like fine wine. I've yet to have any version of it that came close.
Ronald, good to meet you. You're right. It's the cane syrup. Heaven.
Thanks, and good advice.
Messymimi, that's right. And it does the job.
Hahaha....Oh good! I have heard of this before and wondered if it really worked. My dad and brother-in-law were in Mexico building a school and got dreadfully ill. All they drank as a cure was Coke.
Maybe you SHOULD let Coke know of their wonder-cure. Never know what may come of it;)
It really does, Dawn.
If Coke finds me and wants to show its appreciation, that's fine.
I get my caffeine from coffee...
Ron, you're a purist.
Coke is my one addiction. This makes me happy to no end. :)
Laurita, I'm so happy I could help.
