I don't care about the current Bruins/Canucks tussle for the Cup.
I care that the NHL is returning to Winnipeg.
Finally.
I was as nearly as upset as a Jets fan 15 years ago when the team moved south and became the Coyotes. It was wrong.
Meanwhile Atlanta, a city that had already lost a team when the Calgary Flames headed north in 1980 is losing it's second NHL team. Sad as that is, that team is moving to Winnipeg.
That's good.
For as happy as I am that hockey teams and players have great success south of the border, hockey belongs in Canada.
The move still requires formal approval later this month so I'll try to contain myself until then, but for right now, the news is good.
Yay!

I second that YAY!!!!
I am happy for you. (I know nothing about sports.)
Okay - I'm a little lost here today but pleased that the hockey league is sorting itself as you believe it should!
Thanks, Dawn and David.
Dawn, the hockey team never should have left Manitoba. Thank you.
I think it's awesome! You're right, Leah...hockey belongs in Canada.
We're just a few hours south and east of Winnipeg. I grew up just across the border and had family up there. A couple of my friends and I are taking a trip to Winnipeg at the end of the summer...just for fun. I'm in charge of finding stuff to do. Probably won't have hockey by then but hey...that's okay.
The only sports name I can think of for Winnipeg is the Blue Bombers and they are football...can't for the life of me pull the former hockey team's name out of my head.
Okay, I am a bit stupid tonight...lol I just re-read your post where you put the previous name and then read the links. I think I'd better go to bed.
Congrats! Missed the Jets. And we get your AHL team. It's win-win!
Glad you are getting a team. As for where hockey belongs, from my perspective right on the Gulf, anything north of the Mason-Dixon Line is far enough north to play the game.
Cheryl, thanks so much. I didn't realize how close you were. I'm sure there'll be plenty of hockey-related things to do in Winnipeg, if you like. Since the testosterone ice ballet won't be quite ready there's always the Royal Winipeg Ballet. And that's about it for my knowledge of Winnipeg. Have fun.
Reb, I have moments like that all the time.
Laurita, I think everyone missed the Jets. Glad you're getting the AHL team. BTW, they're not my Jets. I live in Alberta and am an Oilers fan. I'm happy about their return just as a Jets fan would be. And I did always like them.
Thanks, Messymimi. It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?
Yay! I, too, am glad to see them come back where they belong!
It's been a long wait, Bag Lady. I hope the re-alignment is done in time for the 2012/13 season.
Glad you are a happy hockey fan!
