"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
-Hamlet, Act One, Scene Five
This above all: to thine ownself be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” - (again with the Hamlet)
The first national park in Canada, Banff, was established today in 1887 after the passing of the Rocky Mountains Park Act.
Thank you, Sir John A. Macdonald.
Let's all go hug a mountain.

I went to Banff with my Dad when I was 16. I loved it. What a beautiful place. Happy birthday, BNP.
Laurita, I'm glad you've had a chance to see it. It truly is a treasure.
Happy Birthday, Banff!! (Messymimi posts the coolest info, doesn't she?)
I love our mountains, and am very glad that the parks were created for all of us to enjoy them.
Now off to read the link!
She sure does, Bag Lady.
I love them too, and am still tickled silly that I get to live so close to them.
Thanks to Canadians who work hard to preserve their natural heritage for all the world to enjoy.
And i'm happy to be able to post these things, i learn so much doing it. Glad you enjoy it, too.
Happy Birthday Banff! (Thanks Messymimi)
I want to hug a mountain, but I think it will have to wait a few weeks and then it will be in Jasper ;) I hope, anyway ;)
Messymimi, I learn a great deal from you.
Reb, I'm sure Banff won't mind if you do it in Jasper.
They were forward looking those mountain huggers. Who thinks of the future that way today? Great photo.
Thanks, Ron. Sadly, I don't think anyone really cares anymore.
Bow Lake is really something at all angles.
Oh! I'm sorry I missed this. But I STILL will go hug a mountain...hoping to lots over the next while!
We're so lucky to live so close to this Park.
Barbara, it sure is.
Dawn, there's always time to hug a mountain.
